Staircase and Living Room Painting

Interior Painting Staircase and Living Room Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel
Staircase and Living Room Painting — finished project

About this project

These rooms were a small part of a huge occupied interior repaint I completed in Haddonfield, NJ. The project involved painting more trim than I ever have in my entire life!

Every bit of the trim shown in the photos was meticulously cleaned, especially the handrails, which collect hand oils over time that can affect the adhesion of a new enamel coating.

Once cleaning was complete, the trim throughout the home was caulked wherever gaps were present between the trim and walls. After prep was complete, all of the baseboards, window frames, built-ins, staircase trim, and more were coated with my favorite trim product: Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel. I find it to be the perfect product for a project involving multi-component trim painting.

Then, once the trim was complete, we taped off the necessary areas to ensure razor-sharp transition lines between the walls and trim.

This project also included the Happy Home Painter standard:

1. Moving furniture for the client and protecting it with plastic for the duration of the project. 2. Protecting floors in the workspaces with drop cloths so they remained clean and paint-free. 3. Professional cleanup at the end of the project, followed by moving the furniture back.
